A Discussion on some of the questions Joker (2019 Film) presents to us.
Joker asks some tough questions.
Last night I watched Joker with some of my friends. We had all been awaiting this film with bated breath. I will spare you my thoughts on the quality of the movie as there are plenty of reviews discussing that. If you want to know my thoughts on the film quality check the end of this story.
What I will do is bring up some of the ideology/tough questions that the movie presented. To me, every movie has a common goal: to connect with the audience. One way this can be done is by asking questions. Me personally, I see a number of questions that it asked. I will go through my thoughts on those questions below.
1. What is Mental Illness?
This is something I have thought about a lot and this movie brought the question to the front of my mind again. The reason I think about it a lot is, I believe we all have a mental illness to some degree. Some simply have it more than others. After reading through the definition of mental disorder on Wikipedia I felt that it is not really defined. There seems to be a lot of grey area in regards to the understanding of what a mental disorder is.
