What Is Yerba Mate? [mah-tay]
In which I speak briefly about what Yerba Mate is.
As I have been launching my business, Che Mate, with my friend Ethan I have been getting a lot of questions about what exactly is Yerba Mate. To be clear, we sell this Yerba Mate. So I will talk about the main points of it in the following lines. Namely what it is, where it comes from, how to prepare it, and the culture that goes with it. So let’s dive into it without hesitation.
What is it?
It is a loose-leaf tea. Obviously, there is more to it than that, however, I had to give the skim readers something to see so they could move on. To be more specific it is a loose leaf tea that is prepared in a very unique way. Well, at least in the traditional manner of preparing it. The leaves are grown and when harvested they are cut to different levels of fineness depending on the intended end result. I am personally a fan of the more coarsely ground Yerba. This form is typically prepared in a Gourd.
