Something that I have learned as a marketing professional.
The Story.
I have always been interested in marketing. It just fascinates me. To me, it is more than, how do we get people to express interest in our company, it's figuring out what motivates these people. It’s learning about who they are, and why they do what they do.
This is why I ended up going into a marketing position. Well, it does involve a lot of sales, but it is still marketing.
Here is what I have learned.
Marketing is always the same.
No matter what decade you lived in marketing is the same. It’s the same in many ways. The goal is to get attention to the company/product. The way they do that is by appealing to the eye of the target customer.
Ways to get attention is for the next section. This section is about how to figure out what appeals to people.
There are a number of things that never change. Basic human tendencies such as the desire to be loved, desire to give, and basic survival instincts. This may sound like therapy but it’s how marketing is. We are all humans and we all have feelings, even the toughest businesspeople.
