Week 2 of my Apprenticeship.
What I’m learning…
At Work…
Patience is king.
This week was a pretty great week. My boss and I together closed my first big deal. The total first-year contract value is $15,600. While that may seem small to some, it’s a pretty nice size deal as far as I am concerned because it is almost all of my personal monthly quota. Only about $1,100 to go.
What I learned from that is persistence. Catholics call it fortitude. It’s a virtue that is similar to persistence. The difference: fortitude is the continued pursual of something that is good, whereas one can persist in evil. This deal took well over a month from initial discussion to signing the paperwork. It came after many other meetings that didn’t go as well.
The patience it took me was not dissimilar to when I started my job as an insurance salesperson. However, I kind of forgot what it was like to start a pipeline from scratch.
Sales is a wonderful thing, especially for me, to learn. It teaches impatient people, such as myself, how to be patient.
Time management is queen.
The other thing I am learning right now is time management. I’m learning time management because I am also doing contract work for two other organizations.
