This week’s recap is going to be a little different than the others. The reason being, I learned a lot this week, but most of my time was spent preparing for my move on March 2nd.

My Takeaway from this week.

Choose a good boss.

It can be easy to get caught up in doing all you can to land a job opportunity, especially when the opportunity is very exciting to you. However, don’t forget that you need to choose your company too.

I will admit, if I had used the same level of deliberation that I use now back in July when I took this job in Wausau, I would likely not have moved forward. However, I do not regret it at all. My boss has been very good overall. He could benefit from some sharpened communication skills, but he genuinely cares.

While he was sad to see me go, he also understands why I’m leaving and is happy for me. So, from this point on, I’m going to be sure to always make sure my boss/manager is top of the line. I’m very lucky to have found some world-class leadership to be working under in this next role.

Document everything.
