My 2021 Mission
If there is one thing I’ve learned in life, it's that speaking out about your goals helps you to get closer to them. This is not due to some new age ideology of making a deal with the universe. It’s due to the fact that our subconscious is a goal-seeking entity. Whatever we tell it to target, it will move towards.
I’ve personally seen the immense power of this in my short twenty-one years on this planet and I certainly plan to continue using that power of the human mind to my advantage. So, without further ado here are my 2021 goals and some of the reasoning behind them.
#1. Hit $400k in total billings at my firm
This goal is not some number I pulled out of thin air. This is the target my boss would love to see me hit because it is totally possible, and because I’d be the youngest person in the history of our firm to do so. Hitting this target would also almost guarantee that I am promoted to Principal Consultant by the end of the year. Making Principal will ensure the feasibility of me to accomplish the next goals I have within the company (confidential at this time, sorry guys).
To accomplish this I will need to board $33,350 per month (1 large deal or two smaller deals). I will also need to truly master the interview process and stay on top of my KPIs namely 4–5 first interviews per week.
#2. Run 400 Miles
Through the pandemic, I started to enjoy running and this has led me to set this goal for 2021. To accomplish this I’ll need to run 8 miles per week. Is anyone interested in jumping on this trend with me? (I’d be glad to create an accountability group).
#3. Launch my CleanTech Podcast, Newsletter, & Slack Channel
This year I will be launching a CleanTech podcast that discusses industry issues, challenges, stories, and missions with a viewer base that doesn’t know much about the space. This will be paired with a Newsletter.
Growing this will help build my brand as a CleanTech recruiter and will help me to gain more knowledge of the space and how I can help to change the world for the better.
I’m launching the Slack Channel to help connect CleanTech professionals around the world to increase the speed of innovation globally.
I’m targeting to have my first episode released in February and to have the newsletter at 500 subscribers by the end of the year. If you’d like to sign up for the newsletter here, the Slack Channel here, and follow me here to see the podcast when it comes out.
#4. Make Principal Consultant
As mentioned in #1 part of my professional goal this year is to make Principal Consultant. I’ll accomplish this by sticking to my weekly KPIs and managing my schedule well by performing the most vital tasks. I have to not that to make Principal I have to first make Consultant, then Senior Consultant, and then comes Principal.
#5. Write a Monthly Recap Post
One thing I noticed this year was that I let my writing slip because of the rigorous schedule. So, I'm seeking to get that habit back under my belt properly by writing a monthly recap post every month.
#6. Asses my Mental Health Monthly
Every month I will take at least one hour to assess my mental health and put in any preemptive measure in order to assure lasting happiness and to make sure the train never gets too far off the rails.
#7. Read 12 Books
This is a pretty straightforward one but one I know I will probably flop at if I don’t mention it. I’ll read at least 1 book in full per month. If you are interested in checking out my current library you can do so here.
#8. Speak Conversational German
By mid-2021 I want to speak conversational German. To accomplish this I will practice Duolingo for 20–30 minutes every day, along with watching German Films, listening to German Podcasts, reading German books/articles.
Areas of Improvement
Throughout this year I also have certain things I want to improve on in areas of health, diet, faith, and my free time habits.
Some of those areas include: attending adoration more often, working out consistently, cutting out dairy and gluten, going to bed by 10 pm consistently, eating out less often, drinking less coffee, spending less time consuming social media and more time posting, reading more, and learning how to cook new types of cuisine.
Here’s to 2021! 🥂 May it be a wonderful year for all of us. Let us enter the year knowing that there will be trials but with complete confidence that we will overcome those trials. Let us turn towards love and kindness more than spite and fear. May we believe in ourselves and pursue what really excites us so we may all live lives filled with abundant happiness and fulfillment.
