Monthly Recap: August 2020
Damn, this month just flew by. Seems like someone just clicked fast forward. Here are my highlights.
At Work
- This month I closed two split deals this week putting up some solid numbers
- I hit over double my first stage interview target (214% total)
- Brought on two new clients
- Qualified for our company’s Long Term Incentive Program
Overall, this month really felt like a big month. Not so much on the revenue side of things alone, but on my ability to really do this job. As is the case with any new job, you have a lot to learn at the beginning, especially when entering a new industry. Through a lot of trial and error, I’ve started to lock down the candidate control process.
Another huge milestone for me is the ability to have many successful weeks in a row of consistently exceeding my deliverables. Now that I’ve reached this mark of sustainably overperforming, I can start to hone other areas of my craft. This means I’ll trigger all the necessary milestones to bring on a trainee under me sooner.
It’s important to mention that none of this would be possible without the great training and encouragement my boss and colleagues have offered to me to help me keep plugging along.
Personally
The month of August had a lot of work which at times made it hard to keep up with my exercise routine. However, I’m proud that I have continued my habit of running that I began back in May. In August I hit a personal record of a 6'40" rolling mile. 🏃
I created a personal budgeting plan that has allowed me to actually save money. Never before in my life have I actually managed to find a system of budgeting that keeps me on track. (I break it down to how much I’m able to spend per day based on my target spend, and then track it in an AppleNote)
Entrepreneurially
This month I also started actioning my business outline. The first phase is to launch a CleanTech Podcast and Blog, so what I’m doing to make that happen is completing a series of research projects. I’m still summarizing one of them, but if you are interested you can read What I Learned About Podcasting.
I’ve also started to build out my database of interesting CleanTech companies/people/influencers/investors, and I’m working on names for the podcast.
This month may not seem like a huge deal but it felt like a good month. Something about the events of this month has given me a solid confidence and peace boost. Looking forward to seeing what this month (Sep) brings.
