Look at the bright side.
The dark side is not fun.
Yesterday I watched an episode of Breaking Bad; that’s where this idea came from.
In the episode, Walter spoke to the school after the tragic plane crash. His emotions were mixed but the message he delivered was that of the bright side. He specifically focused on the odds and data behind the crash.
While he was seemingly inconsiderate of the feelings of anyone involved he had a point. Things could be worse. Things could always be worse.
Because things can always be worse. Let’s focus on the bright side of things in our own lives. When we are sad about the loss of a friend or about not being able to take that vacation because we were called to jury duty, let’s look at the bright side.
This could be that we will have more time to catch up on work. It could be that we will now appreciate the people around us. It could be that we really couldn’t afford the trip. Honestly, there is an unimaginably long list of things that could be worse; an equally long list of things that are positive about the situation.
Let’s start today. Be grateful for the good things in life, and see the positive things about each and every situation, regardless of the tragedy.
