It’s not really a joke without a punch line. (Joker 2019 Review)
My personal opinion on Joker.
I think Joker was a decent movie. I enjoyed watching it however, I do see a few flaws in it. First of all, despite it being a two-hour movie, it failed to really invoke any deep emotion within me. This is typically a very easy thing for movies to do because I am specifically seeking that when I watch a movie in theatres. The only emotion I developed and had spikes in the movie was shock.
While reflecting on it logically I can see the pain Arthur felt, and I can see the dissatisfaction that the major population of Gotham possessed. But when I watched it it was not presented clearly. As for the story of it. It really missed the mark on how Arthur really became the Joker. This depiction made Joker seem like an accidental supervillain. While most depictions of Joker are that of a genius with a lot of intention and purpose. Arthur was a lost soul who accidentally discovered he was so disturbed that he had no guilt for killing people. Instead of him being a genius he was just another stereotypical bad guy seeking revenge.
As for the cinematography I give it an 8 out of 10. I like the style and the dark feel of the film that typically goes along with any DC story. The style of shooting was good. The costumes were good. I liked the 70’s feel…
