For context, I’m someone who has essentially never touched the traditional education route. I was homeschooled by my mom (who is a registered teacher) all the way through high school. I went straight to work in insurance after a summer of 6 part-time jobs. Through that experience, I learned sales but wanted more. I then went through a career-launching BootCamp called Praxis. And by age 20 I was offered a job as a recruiter in NYC (I’m originally from bum fuck nowhere in Wisconsin) working in the renewables space. I’ve been in this role since March 2020 and am now leading a team of 3 and helping lead the strategic direction of our company. And not a lick of traditional education.
Worth noting, that recruitment is primarily a role that requires really good people skills and resiliency. However, this is the context of the author.
So, for the hypothesis of this piece. With the continued, rapid advancement of society in the coming century, individuals will require focused continued education for their entire career. Here are the reasons why.
